Rutherglen is best known for its powerful red and fortified wines bursting with flavour and personality. It's also an incredibly diverse region, with a wide array of varieties thriving in its vineyards.
Around three-quarters of plantings are red varieties, but white varieties also make an important contribution, especially those originating from the Languedoc-Roussillon and Southern Rhone regions of France, including Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne, and those from Southern Italy such as Fiano.
